Exclusive Interview with Lesley Wolman @lesleywolman

What inspired you to start creating content, and how has your focus evolved over time?

I began creating content after launching my blog, Fabulesley. A friend encouraged me to start it because I had become the go-to person for everything from recipes to fashion to everyday lifestyle advice.

How does your age and life experience shape the kind of content you share today?

Age and life experience shape my content in every way. At 66, I’ve learned not to take myself too seriously. Aging with grace requires humor, gratitude, and a genuine love of life, and I bring that energy into everything I create. I’m a mother, a performer, and a woman who has reinvented herself more than once, and those chapters give me depth, perspective, and confidence. My goal is to show that style, joy, beauty, curiosity, and creativity don’t have an expiration date. You can embrace every stage of life and look fabulous doing it.

What message do you hope to share with women (or men) 45 and older through your platform?

My message for everyone is that everything begins with gratitude. When you appreciate what you have, you feel lighter, happier, and more grounded. It’s easier to be a happy person than a miserable one, and kindness goes a very long way. At any age, but especially in midlife and beyond, gratitude and kindness make you feel beautiful from the inside out.

What misconceptions about midlife or aging do you want to change through your influence?

There’s a misconception in our culture that aging makes you invisible. I feel the opposite. I’m more visible now, in my 60s, than I ever was in my 20s, 30s, 40s, or even 50s. There is a wisdom that comes with age. I may not be as fast or tech-savvy as someone in their 20s, but my life experience outweighs the speed at which I complete a task. As long as I cross the finish line, I consider that a win. Through my platform, I hope to inspire others to feel seen, relevant, and confident at every age.

Who makes up your core audience, and what kind of community have you built?

My core audience is made up of women in midlife. What makes our community unique is that competition gives way to camaraderie, encouragement, and support. I’ve built real friendships through social media, and that connection has become one of the most meaningful parts of my midlife influencer journey. I also have a wonderful community of followers in their 30s and 40s, and being seen as aspirational to them is one of the greatest compliments I could receive. I want every woman who finds my page to feel inspired, seen, confident, and excited about the life ahead of her.

What topics or types of content resonate most deeply with your audience?

Fashion, food and recipes, and life philosophy resonate most with my audience. They love style that feels wearable and approachable, delicious food that’s simple and healthy, and honest reflections about aging, confidence, and joy. When I blend storytelling with fashion or share something meaningful I’ve learned along the way, the engagement is always deeper. My audience connects with content that feels real, uplifting, and relatable.

What are some of your favorite brand collaborations, and what made them successful?

Collaborating with brands like Lyssé New York, or Sole Bliss Shoes have been rewarding because of the personal friendships I have made with the designers and founders. The experience is much more collaborative, respectful and creatively aligned.

How do you decide which brands or partnerships align with your values?

Clean beauty is important to me, as are family-owned and women-owned businesses. I also gravitate toward clothing brands that are environmentally conscious and produce with intention rather than waste. I only collaborate with companies whose mission, ethics, and products I can genuinely stand behind. If I wouldn’t use it, wear it, or recommend it in real life, I won’t promote it online. Authenticity matters to me, and my audience trusts that.

What advice would you give to brands looking to collaborate with creators over 45?

Brands should recognize that creators over 45 bring depth, experience, professionalism, and a trusted audience. Our time and creativity are valuable, and that should be reflected in payment. Product alone is not adequate compensation. High-quality content requires skill, planning, and experience, and brands should respect that by compensating fairly.

How would you describe your personal content style or aesthetic?

My content is rooted in authenticity and humor. I also weave in my talents as a singer, actor, and voiceover artist, which adds a distinctive, creative signature to my work.

What trends do you think brands should pay more attention to when working with mature creators?

There is a growing demand for authenticity. Mature creators bring life experience, credibility and our audiences trust us. In addition, there has been a shift towards proaging, celebrating confidence, joy, style and wellness at every stage of life. When a brand partners with a mature creator, they get high quality content and deeper more meaningful engagement.

What’s it like working with Pro-Age Talent?

What I appreciate most about working with ProAge Talent is that I feel seen, supported, and valued. They have boosted my confidence as a creator and consistently remind me that what I do has impact. My questions are answered quickly and honestly, and I’m guided every step of the way. They actively seek out opportunities that align with my brand, negotiate strongly on my behalf, and offer smart advice on how to continue growing my business. Having representation that truly believes in me and champions my work has made all the difference.
